Alonso,Hamilton in India!!!!

Come year 2009 and all F1 racing fans would have a reason to smile. All of them might get an opportunity to meet Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton somewhere in northeren parts of this Country. This refers to recent news that a 5km track has been identified in Noida to host F1 grand prix in year 2009.Making the official statement, the concerned authorites said - "we received a request for this and we have informed them about our findings and the work required to develop this stretch. We can successfully host the first ever F1 grand prix in India".
Another game, another event, another expense and huge financial burden on government.Aprt from this, there would be some revenues, which would be peanuts when compared to the expenses. So,won't we get enough watchers for this action packed game?
Yes,Ofcourse we would get!!!If we take a guess at the number of F1 fans in this country, lets say 5 milion. How many of the would reach Noida to catch this action? This game has failed to thrill the masses as of now.Needless to say,all those follow this game are ardent fans and wont hesitate to spend huge bounty to catch this action live.So the revenues would surely flow in,there would be enough watchers, there would be enough sponsors(Mallyas seems to the frontrunners).IOA would be spending on building of this track and stadium for same.
Why F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone would agree to this?
He won't take any decision until it sees a hidden benefit in that. All the benefits which governement should get would be grabbed by him?He sees a long term benefit in conducting F1 in India.Economy boom, huge spending power, average earning age(20-30years),increasing urban culture are the factors taken into consideration before finalizing this.A calculated decisionto cash on the popularity of this game in India.
For IOA,there are better things to do.It has merely became a media nad entertainement authority with main aim of earnig revenues by organizing events. So better called as "Event Management Company".Though they are at far from their goal of promoting events by providing equal opportunities and facilities for all.
Despite all the critics,IOA would continue to function in same manner.IOA would surely produce loads of people to watch Alonso driving his speed machine but hardly anyone who would compete with him on track

Privatisation Of BCCI ??

Cricket is a religion in India and private players never hesitate to spend huge cash on this and earn the dividends. Anil Amabani's Reliance communications bagged the rights to be the global sponsor of world cup.The deal size is said to be huge amount of 103 Millions USD.Mr. Ambani invested this amount despite bad performance of Indian cricket team in this years world cup. Is he trying to cash on past performance ? One world cup in last 27 years and BCCI is still boasting about it.
BCCI(Some say, Board of Corrupt Cricketers of India) is among the richest sports organizations by far.The global media rights for international cricket to be held in India between March 2006 and March 2010 were awarded to production house Nimbus for a mind-boggling sum of 612 Million USD. Official Kit sponsor Nike shelled out 43 Million USD Some reports say BCCI will get another Rs 2,000 crore ($450 million) from the sale of other rights, including hotel, travel and ground sponsorship etc. List of revenue earning medium continues. BCCI is controlled by government for all the needs.
It would not be wise to say that Mr. Sharad Pawar, a person from political background knows more cricket than Mr. Sunil Gavaskar. Mr Laloo prasad yadav is controlling state cricket board because he is an ardent fan of cricket. There is long list of political clout which controls this game in India. Past record says that it is always hard to find coach, physio, bowling coach and manager for cricket team but whenever we need BCCI president there is long list of available people and that too with political background.
Do they have interest in cricket or are keen for the huge revenues this game generates? Are they heading these organizations because of exposure they are getting or the fame they get? Who is accountable for the finances of this organization? Is control of politicians over sports, prime reason of poor state of sports in our country?
In other Asian countries, china and Japan for example, things are better. Sporting authorities are controlled by the private players and they are managed professionally. Better management of sporting authorities is clear by China's performance in 2004 summer games, which was enough to beat India's total tally of medals in Olympics till now. China won 63 medals which included 32 gold, 17 silver and 14 bronze medals. If professionally managed authorities in other countries can yield better results, India can also do so. We have few of the professionally well managed companies.
Hence, alternative solution to all problems can be privatization of BCCI.I am sure this should help all Indians to realize dream and history of 1983 cup would repeat soon.

HETs !!!

Mohammed yunus, compelted MBBS from one of the top medical institutes of India. He has been scholar throught his school with excellent curricular activties(debate winner - State level, team member-Unviersity cricket team, Headboy-School).In concise,he is a perfect all rounder.
After completing his MBBS, he applied to a university in UK for his postrgraduate degree.A week later,he received a regret letter mentioning his application has been rejected. His parents, friends and relatives were unable to fathom the reason of rejection. In order to realize his dream,he went a step ahead and contacted admission committee for same.He was shocked and heartbroken to know the reasons of his rejection.
Admission committee member replied, there are number of reasons:
  • You are from place(bangalore) which has produced graduates(enginners and doctors) who use their technological skills and expertise for antisocial activities.
  • You are of same religion as of Haneef and sabeel(perpetrators of Glasgow Airport bombings).
  • You have expertise in the incisions and hence can be harmful to any one of the person in your vicinty.
  • You are from institute which has produced doctors who are unable to handle even the syringe(referring to the botched up terror plot in galsgow which used a syringe bomb).
  • Last but not the least, your domicile, education background, religion and all other skill sets are the same as required to become a breed called HET(Highly Educated Terrorist).
Each and every reason stated by the committe member had a logical reasoning attached to it,enough to convince the panel that mohammad is not worthy of admission in their prestigious institute. This is despite the fact that mohammad had met all the criterions of getting into the instiute. There would be hundereds of Mohammed aspiring for studies abroad but have started looking for alternative options. These HETs have given bad name to the city which is hub of IT and have produced the best of every field, religion which is known for preserving faith(Mussalam - Imaan),a profession which saves lives of other people,a coutnry which is secular and loves peace.
India is really shining in its glory of transition from HRTs (Highly Reverred Technologist) to HETs(Highly Educated Terrorists).

Aaj Tak - Ab Tak -Kab Tak?

Irated mob was pelting stones on the policemen somewhere in the remote areas of Rajsthan. This was consequence of the another instance of laxness on the part civic authorities.Raju was struggling for his life since yesterday. It has been long 48 hours and authorities could hardly do anything to take him out of gutter.Another life going into the drains and the whole world was just changing channels and getting frustrated to see that every news channel is covering the same news. To further add to the woes of authorities were workers, who had refused to continue work as another accident took place during rescue operation which seriously injured three workers. Everyone was serious of his/her life but Raju had no one who could care about his life. All this was continuously being addressed by a journalist of famous news channel.
Just like the struggling Indian cricket team which performs very well till the end but still looses the match, the civic authorities tried hard to save the child but in vain. TV Channels left no stone unturned to cash on these dramatic stories which always have tragic ending unlike typical bollywood flicks. Some of the news channels spent 10-20% of the news time for this particular news. They continuously blamed civic authorities for their apathy, interviewed some of the irated citizens, some social workers. All this acted as catalyst for the fury of mob. Mob became irated and started pelting stones and gheraoed senior officials. The crowd became unmanageable and this resulted in lathicharge.Injuries to another set of people and hospitalization of few. Masala news for the channels and another opportunity to blame the civic authorities but this time for lathicharge.Another catalyst for fury of mob and this continues in loop.
So, Is media deviating from duties,it is supposed to do?
Should media show to people what it should or what people want to see?
Is commercialization of media affecting the quality of content being shown to Junta?
Freedom of speech and expression is accepted but there is hardly anyone who can act as moral police to make sure that media brings to people for what it is meant and not what irated people want to see. In terms of management, I would say there is alternative option of cooperation and teamwork which citizens can show with the authorities. For media, it has to be more ethical and act with morality to do duties it is supposed to do.
AAJ TAK, Abhi Tak to theek hai but KAB TAK?? (As of now it is fine but till when?)

All about HR!!!

Despite being a HR professional it is difficult to write and understand an article about Human Resource management but easy to understand and analyze another fad in industry "HR(can easily be identified as A man with a CAP)".
HR has been in news in the past one year for all the good or bad reasons.May it be his presence wearing a burqa at dargah of moinudin chisti, for stating that RD burman sang with nasal twang or his self proclaiming statement of giving 36 hits in a row which none of the stalwarts like,Mukesh,NFAK or Pancham da could give.On the other side,he has been the hot favorite amongst all disco goers for his hits like jhalak dikhlaja,Soniye etc.A filmfare award winner for the song "Aashique banaya aapne" had all the good reasons to smile after being the first indian to perform in wembley's London.
With his typical style of handling the mike in both hands,HR has become talk of al the laughter shows on various channels.Despite all the critics he has been carrying himself very well and taking the life as it is.His entry int obollywood as actor earned him more name and fan following he already had. It might come as shocker for all that his debut movie AKS(Aap Ka Surror) has done 100% collections for first three days.As per critic Taran adarsh: AKS is doing collections which is equivalent to collections of a yash raj or karan johar movie. It has already beaten apne and Awarapan(two movies released on same day).Though better marketing is also one of the reason for same but hige fan following and HR being always is news is bringing the moviegoers to AKS.
Whatever critcs say,I admit that HR has something or loads of thing which atleast I appreciate and formost is the ability to get the crowdsswinging to his tunes(the way he wants it) and excellent foot tapping music....
All this sums up that HR has something in it else why would people follow so religiously....

I AM IN MEETING!!!

Ravi was walking towards the cafetaria with his friends and in between he got call and ravi replied "Hey I will call you later,I am in meeting right now" Meeting,What the hell meeting is he attending?? This was the third instance I have been facing since morning.I know,he knows and whole of the deaprtment knows that he has been free for last three days as the recruitment which he was looking into was freezed because of business decisions. As we sipped coffe at the barista shop and were discussing about the weather in bangalore, another call for Ravi and same reply came "I am in meeting right now,can I call you later?"I said - Liar!!! Ravi --No yaar not a liar,I have to do that else I wont be able to maintain work life balance if I answer all these calls.I thought, this is only work time,Life is only after office hours.During office hours he should not use these excuses.Ravi interrupted my thought process and said yaar kisi college ke placement committee se phoen tha pareshana ho gaya hoon in logon se.Abhi placement 6 mahien door hai abhee se Jaan kha rahe hain(Someone from placement committee of a colloge had called,I am tired of all these.Still there are 6 moinths for placement season to start and these guys have started eatign my brains). Now I realize why the hell placement committees of B-School have to struggle so much for the placements.I asked,If you are so uncomfortable while talking to people and facing them, why did you choose this career option?Ravi replied "I was given this mandate by my boss and I had to do it,though I am not liking it et al".I am just completing for the sake of doing it,this is not my cup of tea.I asked "Wont this impact the companys brand in market?Ravi said - abe apun ka kya jaata, khao piyo apne target meet karo, bhaad mein gaya brand(Eat,drink, mneet the tartgets and to hell with brand of company) with a grim smile on his face.Numbers,so is recruitment only about meeting the numbers without looking into customer(candidate's) experience. Some companies hardly give a damn about this because of the industry dynamics and availability of talent pool in indian market and ofcourse the frequent movement of candidates from one job to other.
I feel Recruitment is the career option for only those who are ready to be on toes, have guts to face people, answer the questions for which they have no answers, might have skip fun time during office hours and stop sayinmg to your customers that "I am in meeting,Can I call you later?" and then never call back.Customer would come to you when he needs you but would not come back ever when company would need him/her.So,someone has to stop attending these fictitious meetings and start doign the work for which he/she is hired.
It is only lack of committment and effort from the recruiters which is the prime cause of not meeting the numbers,as recruitment is extendend arm of the sales and recruiters have to sell company while maintaining brand name. For people like ravi, other career options would be better where "Khao Piyo and meet the target is mantra of life".
