Vande Mataram

Trasnlated by Shree Aurobindo
Mother, I bow to thee! Rich with thy hurrying streams, bright with orchard gleams, Cool with thy winds of delight, Dark fields waving Mother of might, Mother free. Glory of moonlight dreams, Over thy branches and lordly streams, Clad in thy blossoming trees, Mother, giver of ease Laughing low and sweet! Mother I kiss thy feet, Speaker sweet and low! Mother, to thee I bow. Who hath said thou art weak in thy lands When the sword flesh out in the seventy million hands And seventy million voices roar Thy dreadful name from shore to shore? With many strengths who art mighty and stored, To thee I call Mother and Lord! Though who savest, arise and save! To her I cry who ever her foeman drove Back from plain and Sea And shook herself free. Thou art wisdom, thou art law, Thou art heart, our soul, our breath Though art love divine, the awe In our hearts that conquers death. Thine the strength that nervs the arm, Thine the beauty, thine the charm. Every image made divine In our temples is but thine. Thou art Durga, Lady and Queen, With her hands that strike and her swords of sheen, Thou art Lakshmi lotus-throned, And the Muse a hundred-toned, Pure and perfect without peer, Mother lend thine ear, Rich with thy hurrying streams, Bright with thy orchard gleems, Dark of hue O candid-fair In thy soul, with jewelled hair And thy glorious smile divine, Lovilest of all earthly lands, Showering wealth from well-stored hands! Mother, mother mine! Mother sweet, I bow to thee, Mother great and free!

Alonso,Hamilton in India!!!!

Come year 2009 and all F1 racing fans would have a reason to smile. All of them might get an opportunity to meet Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton somewhere in northeren parts of this Country. This refers to recent news that a 5km track has been identified in Noida to host F1 grand prix in year 2009.Making the official statement, the concerned authorites said - "we received a request for this and we have informed them about our findings and the work required to develop this stretch. We can successfully host the first ever F1 grand prix in India".
Another game, another event, another expense and huge financial burden on government.Aprt from this, there would be some revenues, which would be peanuts when compared to the expenses. So,won't we get enough watchers for this action packed game?
Yes,Ofcourse we would get!!!If we take a guess at the number of F1 fans in this country, lets say 5 milion. How many of the would reach Noida to catch this action? This game has failed to thrill the masses as of now.Needless to say,all those follow this game are ardent fans and wont hesitate to spend huge bounty to catch this action live.So the revenues would surely flow in,there would be enough watchers, there would be enough sponsors(Mallyas seems to the frontrunners).IOA would be spending on building of this track and stadium for same.
Why F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone would agree to this?
He won't take any decision until it sees a hidden benefit in that. All the benefits which governement should get would be grabbed by him?He sees a long term benefit in conducting F1 in India.Economy boom, huge spending power, average earning age(20-30years),increasing urban culture are the factors taken into consideration before finalizing this.A calculated decisionto cash on the popularity of this game in India.
For IOA,there are better things to do.It has merely became a media nad entertainement authority with main aim of earnig revenues by organizing events. So better called as "Event Management Company".Though they are at far from their goal of promoting events by providing equal opportunities and facilities for all.
Despite all the critics,IOA would continue to function in same manner.IOA would surely produce loads of people to watch Alonso driving his speed machine but hardly anyone who would compete with him on track

Privatisation Of BCCI ??

Cricket is a religion in India and private players never hesitate to spend huge cash on this and earn the dividends. Anil Amabani's Reliance communications bagged the rights to be the global sponsor of world cup.The deal size is said to be huge amount of 103 Millions USD.Mr. Ambani invested this amount despite bad performance of Indian cricket team in this years world cup. Is he trying to cash on past performance ? One world cup in last 27 years and BCCI is still boasting about it.
BCCI(Some say, Board of Corrupt Cricketers of India) is among the richest sports organizations by far.The global media rights for international cricket to be held in India between March 2006 and March 2010 were awarded to production house Nimbus for a mind-boggling sum of 612 Million USD. Official Kit sponsor Nike shelled out 43 Million USD Some reports say BCCI will get another Rs 2,000 crore ($450 million) from the sale of other rights, including hotel, travel and ground sponsorship etc. List of revenue earning medium continues. BCCI is controlled by government for all the needs.
It would not be wise to say that Mr. Sharad Pawar, a person from political background knows more cricket than Mr. Sunil Gavaskar. Mr Laloo prasad yadav is controlling state cricket board because he is an ardent fan of cricket. There is long list of political clout which controls this game in India. Past record says that it is always hard to find coach, physio, bowling coach and manager for cricket team but whenever we need BCCI president there is long list of available people and that too with political background.
Do they have interest in cricket or are keen for the huge revenues this game generates? Are they heading these organizations because of exposure they are getting or the fame they get? Who is accountable for the finances of this organization? Is control of politicians over sports, prime reason of poor state of sports in our country?
In other Asian countries, china and Japan for example, things are better. Sporting authorities are controlled by the private players and they are managed professionally. Better management of sporting authorities is clear by China's performance in 2004 summer games, which was enough to beat India's total tally of medals in Olympics till now. China won 63 medals which included 32 gold, 17 silver and 14 bronze medals. If professionally managed authorities in other countries can yield better results, India can also do so. We have few of the professionally well managed companies.
Hence, alternative solution to all problems can be privatization of BCCI.I am sure this should help all Indians to realize dream and history of 1983 cup would repeat soon.

HETs !!!

Mohammed yunus, compelted MBBS from one of the top medical institutes of India. He has been scholar throught his school with excellent curricular activties(debate winner - State level, team member-Unviersity cricket team, Headboy-School).In concise,he is a perfect all rounder.
After completing his MBBS, he applied to a university in UK for his postrgraduate degree.A week later,he received a regret letter mentioning his application has been rejected. His parents, friends and relatives were unable to fathom the reason of rejection. In order to realize his dream,he went a step ahead and contacted admission committee for same.He was shocked and heartbroken to know the reasons of his rejection.
Admission committee member replied, there are number of reasons:
  • You are from place(bangalore) which has produced graduates(enginners and doctors) who use their technological skills and expertise for antisocial activities.
  • You are of same religion as of Haneef and sabeel(perpetrators of Glasgow Airport bombings).
  • You have expertise in the incisions and hence can be harmful to any one of the person in your vicinty.
  • You are from institute which has produced doctors who are unable to handle even the syringe(referring to the botched up terror plot in galsgow which used a syringe bomb).
  • Last but not the least, your domicile, education background, religion and all other skill sets are the same as required to become a breed called HET(Highly Educated Terrorist).
Each and every reason stated by the committe member had a logical reasoning attached to it,enough to convince the panel that mohammad is not worthy of admission in their prestigious institute. This is despite the fact that mohammad had met all the criterions of getting into the instiute. There would be hundereds of Mohammed aspiring for studies abroad but have started looking for alternative options. These HETs have given bad name to the city which is hub of IT and have produced the best of every field, religion which is known for preserving faith(Mussalam - Imaan),a profession which saves lives of other people,a coutnry which is secular and loves peace.
India is really shining in its glory of transition from HRTs (Highly Reverred Technologist) to HETs(Highly Educated Terrorists).

Aaj Tak - Ab Tak -Kab Tak?

Irated mob was pelting stones on the policemen somewhere in the remote areas of Rajsthan. This was consequence of the another instance of laxness on the part civic authorities.Raju was struggling for his life since yesterday. It has been long 48 hours and authorities could hardly do anything to take him out of gutter.Another life going into the drains and the whole world was just changing channels and getting frustrated to see that every news channel is covering the same news. To further add to the woes of authorities were workers, who had refused to continue work as another accident took place during rescue operation which seriously injured three workers. Everyone was serious of his/her life but Raju had no one who could care about his life. All this was continuously being addressed by a journalist of famous news channel.
Just like the struggling Indian cricket team which performs very well till the end but still looses the match, the civic authorities tried hard to save the child but in vain. TV Channels left no stone unturned to cash on these dramatic stories which always have tragic ending unlike typical bollywood flicks. Some of the news channels spent 10-20% of the news time for this particular news. They continuously blamed civic authorities for their apathy, interviewed some of the irated citizens, some social workers. All this acted as catalyst for the fury of mob. Mob became irated and started pelting stones and gheraoed senior officials. The crowd became unmanageable and this resulted in lathicharge.Injuries to another set of people and hospitalization of few. Masala news for the channels and another opportunity to blame the civic authorities but this time for lathicharge.Another catalyst for fury of mob and this continues in loop.
So, Is media deviating from duties,it is supposed to do?
Should media show to people what it should or what people want to see?
Is commercialization of media affecting the quality of content being shown to Junta?
Freedom of speech and expression is accepted but there is hardly anyone who can act as moral police to make sure that media brings to people for what it is meant and not what irated people want to see. In terms of management, I would say there is alternative option of cooperation and teamwork which citizens can show with the authorities. For media, it has to be more ethical and act with morality to do duties it is supposed to do.
AAJ TAK, Abhi Tak to theek hai but KAB TAK?? (As of now it is fine but till when?)

All about HR!!!

Despite being a HR professional it is difficult to write and understand an article about Human Resource management but easy to understand and analyze another fad in industry "HR(can easily be identified as A man with a CAP)".
HR has been in news in the past one year for all the good or bad reasons.May it be his presence wearing a burqa at dargah of moinudin chisti, for stating that RD burman sang with nasal twang or his self proclaiming statement of giving 36 hits in a row which none of the stalwarts like,Mukesh,NFAK or Pancham da could give.On the other side,he has been the hot favorite amongst all disco goers for his hits like jhalak dikhlaja,Soniye etc.A filmfare award winner for the song "Aashique banaya aapne" had all the good reasons to smile after being the first indian to perform in wembley's London.
With his typical style of handling the mike in both hands,HR has become talk of al the laughter shows on various channels.Despite all the critics he has been carrying himself very well and taking the life as it is.His entry int obollywood as actor earned him more name and fan following he already had. It might come as shocker for all that his debut movie AKS(Aap Ka Surror) has done 100% collections for first three days.As per critic Taran adarsh: AKS is doing collections which is equivalent to collections of a yash raj or karan johar movie. It has already beaten apne and Awarapan(two movies released on same day).Though better marketing is also one of the reason for same but hige fan following and HR being always is news is bringing the moviegoers to AKS.
Whatever critcs say,I admit that HR has something or loads of thing which atleast I appreciate and formost is the ability to get the crowdsswinging to his tunes(the way he wants it) and excellent foot tapping music....
All this sums up that HR has something in it else why would people follow so religiously....

I AM IN MEETING!!!

Ravi was walking towards the cafetaria with his friends and in between he got call and ravi replied "Hey I will call you later,I am in meeting right now" Meeting,What the hell meeting is he attending?? This was the third instance I have been facing since morning.I know,he knows and whole of the deaprtment knows that he has been free for last three days as the recruitment which he was looking into was freezed because of business decisions. As we sipped coffe at the barista shop and were discussing about the weather in bangalore, another call for Ravi and same reply came "I am in meeting right now,can I call you later?"I said - Liar!!! Ravi --No yaar not a liar,I have to do that else I wont be able to maintain work life balance if I answer all these calls.I thought, this is only work time,Life is only after office hours.During office hours he should not use these excuses.Ravi interrupted my thought process and said yaar kisi college ke placement committee se phoen tha pareshana ho gaya hoon in logon se.Abhi placement 6 mahien door hai abhee se Jaan kha rahe hain(Someone from placement committee of a colloge had called,I am tired of all these.Still there are 6 moinths for placement season to start and these guys have started eatign my brains). Now I realize why the hell placement committees of B-School have to struggle so much for the placements.I asked,If you are so uncomfortable while talking to people and facing them, why did you choose this career option?Ravi replied "I was given this mandate by my boss and I had to do it,though I am not liking it et al".I am just completing for the sake of doing it,this is not my cup of tea.I asked "Wont this impact the companys brand in market?Ravi said - abe apun ka kya jaata, khao piyo apne target meet karo, bhaad mein gaya brand(Eat,drink, mneet the tartgets and to hell with brand of company) with a grim smile on his face.Numbers,so is recruitment only about meeting the numbers without looking into customer(candidate's) experience. Some companies hardly give a damn about this because of the industry dynamics and availability of talent pool in indian market and ofcourse the frequent movement of candidates from one job to other.
I feel Recruitment is the career option for only those who are ready to be on toes, have guts to face people, answer the questions for which they have no answers, might have skip fun time during office hours and stop sayinmg to your customers that "I am in meeting,Can I call you later?" and then never call back.Customer would come to you when he needs you but would not come back ever when company would need him/her.So,someone has to stop attending these fictitious meetings and start doign the work for which he/she is hired.
It is only lack of committment and effort from the recruiters which is the prime cause of not meeting the numbers,as recruitment is extendend arm of the sales and recruiters have to sell company while maintaining brand name. For people like ravi, other career options would be better where "Khao Piyo and meet the target is mantra of life".

Travails Of A Summer Trainee...

After listening to all my batchmates and my interaction with students from other insitutes(IIMK,L,I,C, IIFT,Wellingkar,IMT,NiTIE) in these two months, this is what I can see every summer trainee faces but before you read further
Caution Notice:"All characters in this story are fictitious and any resemblance to any summer trainee/guide or any organization is purely coincidental.
"Learnings:Column 1 - Project Specific,Column 2 - Others,This was the slide which ate eight hours of his two months of summer training.OOpss sorry, training was 56 days(to be accurate),correction again and let me exclude fourteen sundays or saturdays, one day of induction program( No one can challenge the HR policy and dare to stop this ritual),two non-working days as reward to join the Project team (he was lucky enough not to get a seat and computer on the very first day),two national holidays, three non-working days as final presentation was scheduled before actual end date, a prevelliged leave(tried to be professional),two unoffical leaves(Reminds of school bunking),9 more days( Days he reached office at 11:00am),10 days(he left office at 2pm or 3pm or 4pm -ohh my gawd some more half days). When in field for 10 days (officially) he preferred to sleep in his room or raom around in city, spend at multiplex or at cousions place. At this juncture,I am left with 13 days and shall stop excluding days else it would be difficult to get a single working day and the reason for spending 8 hrs to make the learnings slide would be obvious to all. Good things always come in small packets, and so was the Title of the project, which was for sure the brainchild of a MBA graduate. His guide had made sure that title reflects that project was one of the most valuble for organization. "Change is the only constant" and same principle was followed by the scope of summer project. Deliverables which are unknown to guides until the delivery is made.
Here was the D day,the day presentation was scheduled and as its impossible to live without oxygen, impossible is for MBA graduate to do submission of any project without nightouts.Last three sleepless nights were sure to let his friends know that MBA life is quiet hectic and specially this summer training. These three days actually acted as learning experience for him and made him confident to speak during presentation. And its not all done as of now, there are hell loads of feedback forms which he had to fill ,which would get unnoticed for sure and the structure of summer training would remain same,as no one care a damn in some organizations, about the progress in the project.
He always thought that its him, but nay its not only him,its the whole MBA fraternity which is crying for same .Training which teaches you ways to spend leisure time, ways to know proxy settings to by pass firewalls of organization, and yes spamming to its best. For some of us,it was for sure an enriching experience, first salary, entry into professional life, first stay outside home town, knowledge about business of an organization, the culture, but for rest of us these were few MBA(Mere Bahut Aish) ke days.
Achievements -
"Nothing is Impossible,he did impossible during these two months"
Leanings:
Space Limitations to write.
Still he doesn't hesitates to call himself..
Yours truely

OBsession....It is all about OB(OT) session

Mind preoccupied with some thing same all the times, may be kind of work, person or an object.Obsession is another another name to describe this state.Once obsessed, we stop caring about time being spent in the activity or time spent in thinking about that person or object. We always tend to spend whole time on the same work.I can think of few reasons for obsession with some work .It can be due to large interest in the kind of work, your thinking that success in life is fully depndent on the results of this work, reputation in society being at stake, large amount of money invested in the same ,it can be social reponsibility for you or it can be bad time management.
The obsession which our prof. IC has for OT subect was one of its kind. For prof IC the reason was his interest in the subject and he made it also as a part of his long term goal(so do for his better half).

All is fine but how come bad time management cause obsession(frocible obsession).I have to use my grey cells to the extremes to find out that "bad time management" can be one of the prime cause for obsession with work. This obsession is more of physical(i.e. keeping yourself busy with a work for long time, though it required very less time to complete).Whatever may be the reason of obsession it is sure to cause some harm to you. Here my experience speaks that bad performance in other fields, inability to do multitasking, frustration, slow growth and lack of all round development are some the after effects of being obsessed with something. Your mind acts like a 24*7 Call center with only one customer and always replying to calls of only that customer. All the reasons but bad time management are more of psychological in nature. But there are also some positive aspects of same as this can help you become one of its kind in your area of work.

Though many of us would have gained little from those sessions of OT(unlike our senior batch),but we all accept that he was the best faculty in three terms after Mr.K.M. Rajesh(Icall him Kam Marks wale Rajesh coz uexpecting lowest in his subject).I salute Prof ICs obsession for teaching and ofcourse the subject.Learning taken from all sessions is very little academically, but it is not all about academics, there were loads of "hidden benefits" in his sessions. As one of the great learning I had in 3rd term pertains to OB-session.

TIME - This Is Most important Element

I was on dinner table with one of my friend and his parents at their home in Kolkata. We talked about indian railways and improvement in scheduling of eastern zone bound trains(which was supported by his dad).I kept thinking of this during my one hour stay at delhi railway station as I heard umpteen times "Aapko Huyee Asuvidha Ke Liye hamein Khed Hai(We are sorry for trouble caused to you - An announcement made on indian railway stations when a train is delayed). An hour of delay of a train means 60 minutes of train delay, each train on average has 10 compartments, each having 72 seats, but indian trains have occupancy rate of two times(popluation can be reason for same)and hence 1440 people would have travelled by that train and hence 1440 man hours wasted during an hour delay of train. Is this avoidable? Will saving this time help us? Help in growth of country?Time is critical to all of us when it is for our own "Visible Benefit" but when it is for someone else we never care to respect.....'WE' menoned here refers to all of us,many of my colleagues in office, companions in college and includes myself.
It would be good to define here 'Visible benefit' by an example.Mr. X called a meeting of 10 people to discuss a group work in office.Though this would be start of proect or to discuss minor team issue. One of the partcipant(Mr.Y) turned 15minutes late as this was group effort and the effect was going to have was on all 10 rather than that individual. He didnt see any benefit for him in this so never cared about being on time. But if same meeting had been called to discuss performance evaluation of Mr. Y,he would have been surely on time as he is able to see Visible Benefit.
Signficance of fraction of a second is known to a person standing on other side of the toilet, soldier who has been hit by a bullet,a person struck by a speeding train.Though all the examples given are cliche and are well known to all of us, still many of us have not learnt what we should have by now.Land ,labor, capital are the factors of production Cost of land is increasing with the passage of time.Labor is of no use if it cannot complete the work in specified time i.e with required efficiency.Capital looses its value with time. There is common thread amongst the three factors of production. Another factor of production called as TIME(This Is Most important Element). We as a nation won't be able to build other three facotrs until we are able to save the fourth, which actually has priority over others but looses mention in the books. So we seldom learn about that during our academics. We learn only from loss caused by disrespect of this factor.I have observed that a person who comes for meeting on time, completes work on time, delivers the required work on time is called 'professonal'.But I feel this is more about discipline and respect for the system. On rare occasion we find people who respect the system in all ways.Human tendency makes them break the system in one or other way to make the system act for their own "Visible Benfit".They are devoid of foresightedness and miss seeing the hidden benefits of more value than visible benefits. So,whether it is MBA or Phd ,no eduation can make you learn respect for the system, and you cannot be a professional until you learn same as to become professional the first step is respect for any system, system of which we are part of,system which is formed by us,for us and of us, and last but not the least respect for TIME.Respect for time again gets prcedence here as system(if not respected at all TIMES) will be demolished .
Here I quote two of lines i can think of" Yeh lamhein beet jaayenge palak jhapakte hee,in lamhon kee keemat ko pehchaan" Aisa kuch kar jaa jindagee mein, reh jaaye tera ik nishaan".

A lot more of an Indian...

"Well the rebels have arrived" and these rebels are rocking India...Aslam,DJ,Karan,Sukhee,Pandey...accompanied by sonia and so called Su(orSue) .Without any doubt Rang De Basanti has already given indian cinema goers great unit worth of resource(As every one rupee spent on RDB has given more than the expected value of one) on their money. "Ise jad se hee ukhaadna hoga..Kya karenge? Maar Dalo".. and this is the one dialgue which will surely be remembered for years to come. and movie would be in minds of people for the sheer reason of A to Z excellency in each and every aspect."One liners like Behan de takee , maan kee aankh" made sure to give a north indian touch to the movie.Songs already topping the chartbusters, posters already making waves, screensavers already occupying space on computers of college goers and working professionals. Its skyrocketing collections have already made it blockbuster of the year...But there are other touches to this well directed movie which have made it class apart movie..a different league altogether..preferred by all "The Young Guns Of India". May it be rocking background score by A R Rehman, superb outfits reflecting the character of each and every indivudual, it tried to create liason between struggle in life of an indian these days with the past (infact pre independence struggle) .Without any doubt director rakesh mehra has bridged this existing gap in a fashion worth appreciating. An outrageus movie which was opposed by defence ministry, for critical remarks on MIG crashes in India is all set to inpsire the youth.Truth has to come out and let it be this way....A start studden movie with all commercial masala in it ended with a social message...BE A REBEL.. Equation goes like this--
Rs22/ -- 3 Hrs of Fun + Excitement + Passion + Patriotism + opportunity to see 5 role models + Culture + Glamour + and an inspiration to become a lot more of Indian. Last but not the least is a lesson to be a Lot more of REBEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of my friend said " You saw it for the third time, you are quiet patriotic bhai" and I gave the sudden reply " hey um not patriotic but yes after watching this movie I see myself as lot more of an indian,a lot more of a rebel. But then I asked myself "why thrice?"..May be, more rebellious you are more you will like it.... More Of Indian you will become after watching Rang De Basanti.

PLACEMENTS..PLACEMENTS..

"Aaj,Ok this weekend, next weekend....ok will write next week ..and now its today" 15 september was de last time I had written on this blog and now in 2006.....Ooooooooooooops such a long wait for my blog raders..sorry guys...One of de reason can be last time i decided tat I will start writing abstract but realized tats not my cup of tea so um back to original interesting stuff..full of facts, figures and research... Any specific topic nopes...Lets go back in time...Its for de first time tat while writing blog um falling short of words and its not coz i dont have words but coz i dont know from where to start....as once started thre will not be an end.......As all dese blogs have a thread a link so hall not stop typing.....Its jst like "Five Point Someone" as said earlier "Six point someone" in de making.

Placecom(Placement Committee) formed.( isnpite of all those issue and concerns),work started wid full vigour....from very less of studies I went into mode of no studies....seniors shifted from mode of no studies to loads of unexpected studies...No Bday bashes,No JLT...No Mastee....D Day was approaching and the final verdict was in hands of the company officials...............All these were contributing factors to increase de tension..Tension which was obvious from some of the brawls(sorry only heated arguments) I had wid some of the seniors...thankfully was able to manage everything wid ease...........(not wid ease).. thankfully wid all the efforts put forth by senior placement committee member we took the credit of excellent placements....dont know whether ELITES of our batch were lucky mascots or the senior placecom mebers were..but as I identified even before joing ximb(looking at the profile)..tis batch shall be trendsetter in everything....Alrdy showed lots of incidents need not to be mentioned here..........and placements of 2006 was one of those.... Quoting some spl incidents in bits and pieces which I will not forget:

On studies front- MIS Quiz----Quiz at 4pm....Which I realized at 3:45pm....had to receive company guys from airport at 1:30pm..Process scheduled at 3:30pm.....took the printout of PPTs and left for airport...Thankgod we have AC cars to receive offcials..else it would have been difficult for me to get 3 QPI in term ii..Salute to safi bhai for being topper...probably 13yrs of experience is enough to give you know howof of time management..I need 10 more years to reach at same level..sorry dont have much time...3:35pm and the process has started wid helpof senior placecom...3:45pm its time for me to study....a glance before the exam and a glance at someone's else paper in audi was enough to pass the quiz wid avg marks....Watever de results were MIS was not an easy subjectfor me atleast....Learning: Presentations and projects are de saving grace in any MBA course..

7th jan - Day1 -Placement front 4:30am--Off to ZZzzzzzzzzzzzz...6:45am....Bisu Calls........hey company guys have come.,......frm whre de hell they hav come?? were about to come by 9am....its only 6:45am...Call yaddi....Yaddi says "we are in airport and willl reach campus by 8:30am and then who are dese strangers.?? I(In jeans, sleepers, tshirt) wothout brushing my teeth(which were unbrushed till 2pm tat day) introduced myself and offered them seat in lounge(where we had dinner 7-8hrs before and table had all de waste food on it.)Even they felt ashamed and went for walk......................managed to book rooms in MDC..called all my team members to get ready in 30min...riots had no effect on the process....and in surprise to all of us company officials will be reaching campus on time...all processes on time tat means lifes goin to be hell today...Yaddi,tushar,arush and ritwik would have seen tyres burning in movie bombay but first time on road ....even the company guys were shocked....Kudos to de team of 4 hoo left for airport at 3:45am and tat too even after goin to bed at 2am..again kudos to XIMBIANS for conducting the process in between all dese riots...

Golden Moments--Mixed Feelings...........7-th Jan - 6:30pm Venue: Placement loungeRajiv: Kya hua? Myself: We will be short of target by one i feel.... Rajiv: Dont take tensun..bhai... myslef ,safibhai,saby,ram....lets wait and watch...Safi bhai--um scared tat 1 will be left out.. myselfy..i think same safibhai....keep fingers crossed....um getting severe headache..Back to room for power nap...9:00pm - Bapi and Angshuma(My neighbbor seniors) Sirjee get up..its done....Its done 100%..and all of sudden i was rejoicing..wid all my team members and seniors.....batchmates... just dreaming of same day for next year(100% of excellent placements)....as there shall not be looking back now....We said and we did it..all what we need is the Grace of dat almighty...and support of de batch and ofcourse the most critical deans office..............Lets wait n watch What all I will never forget....10pm to 2am rerankings which seemed to me a big flaw in de process to be looked upon in detail...which was more of hedging technique...and some of de seniors spent more time in analyze ranking rather than in studying for de interviews.... Searching students for PPTs....never expected tis behavior from elites...and hope will improve as they will realize the importance of all this... One of de difficult task of allocations for next day when MR class attendance 100percent for all...........sec A Sec B swapping of work... Enough..Can tis guy write something beyond placements ..didnt he had life beyond placements....to be frank......NO..Something else to write..can write about summer placements and press conference...: but wont....As Ill b back wid something more than placements and more frequently.............Shit I started wid placements and ended wid same..am i obsessed.???.................NO..............................

TERM I Se - TERM II - Tak.....

"Oh when I look back now That summer seemed to last forever And if I had the choice Ya - I'd always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life (THINK TWICE......)"
Term I ended 2 days back and it was first day of term II today . 3months passed by with speed of light. I can still see myself sitting in front of mess in drenched state(drenched from TOP to BOTTOM).After these 90 days of hard work(have to think twice),hectic schedule(again think twice),sleepless nights(who made it sleepless),lots of readings to be done(did i grasped anything or only read)...Everything went by so fast, mismanaged to such an extent, with very little of learning...Did we really learned ways to manage..I didnt atleast..but yeaah....I surely came to know about weekness I do have and identified areas of improvement after doing number of projects with different people.Ragging, parichay, sambandh, all ball matches(foot, basket, volley and cricket ball ),Communication presentations, marketing project, boring ceo talks,PPT of companies everything provided us with one or another kind of learning. When we talk about learnings, lets start with GOD of MARKETING Mr. Kotler, who would surely feel insulted to know tat we people finished reading kotler in span of 7 days or so. He will think twice to write another book and amount of reserach he has to put in writing tat book.Mr. Dessler will surely comeout with slides next time as its worthless to read book for HR exam.Mr. Lewin shall stop explaining application of Statistics in his books as we always got an answer "This is done in book so it is done in this way". Kudos to Ramanna sir for super knowledge transfer and explaining the concepts to each and everyone in superb manner.Sleep was compelted in best manner in class.Laptops were used at their best in MC(Managing Computers).GTALK, and BOPUP remained the best past time.AOE and NFS contested for best game in campus.Stick cricket made classes more interesting than they were actually.Mess food after 00:00 hours were only eatables in mess....rest shall not be served et al as bad food affects studies. Going forward in second term I shall PROBABLY,ACTUALLY try to improve on all my weakness and build upon my strengths.I hope dharam and nity would leave no stone unturned to find true color of Sky.Kamal hai trrrrrrrrrringggggggggggggg would be more famous than he is now.Govind Jai Jai bolo gopal jai jai...would reverbrate in all directions.1,2,3 PRIYAAAAAAAAAAAAAANK...mmmmmmmmmm will be continued and shall achive his goal .Barabar hai barabar hai would try to make everything unequal with his expertise in computers.Bamadev would still remain our CR(Someone mite have given him curse during last bith).Baba would continue the social work with his six sigma distribution channel.Laloo will think more LOGICALLY than he does now.C Block will keep the mantra of OM Swaha to be continued for next two years.Diwana dil diwana will remain as favourite song of all....B toppers...and Uncle will remain as old aged expert of our batch(EXPERT IN EVERYTHING HE DOES) .Baba ...$@##@ will be there in ever D block bash.Aliysee expert Arush would release newer versions very soon....A block will surely come with some USP of their own.Coming elections would surely create more split in elites(shall try to avoid it if we can).RM will interact more wid PGP..(no intentions implied..for anyone specific).RMH will come out with flying colors for the benefit of gents hostel(Atleast for some of my friends , um sure the Better half exists here only). And on personal side,I will surely start writing some abstract blogs...as it was all fun till now...some more seriousness needs to be added to everything I do.As one of my friend rightly said .....Everything I do,I do it for you.....and I must do something for alll my blogreaders...something more valuable.....and I will surely start as I complete my first phase of journey of TERM I.

2Ps of MBA College - A Research based on Facts...

"Vote for me",he is not apt person for it. Hey can we work together to grab this seat?"Can you let me know if he is contesting for election, if yes I have to do something very serious..may be club my votes with some other clout.Nay,um not talking about any constituency elections. This was scene which prevailed in my college(my home) for past two weeks. But as I read somewhere "Home is built by People who lives there",I might have to think twice to call this place as home.House would be an apt until we all are together which I rarely forsee coz of number of elections scheduled for next month. No blame game here as myself being part of this community could have done something to avoid all this but never thought of that and as my friend said you are "Gone with the Wind".

Though,I always wanted to keep myself out of this contest for Position which requires dedication, your day and night of hardwork to make sure that 240 members of community can see Prosperous career. As I have already experienced the impact of all this during engineering college elections fo departmental elections.Still finally decided to see each and every face of Elite-2007.After these 15 days of observations,I now can easily explain the reason for Politicians playing blame games and being so corrupt as the position for which they contest gives them name, fame and what not.Placement committee membership will give us nothing but a learning to cope up with stress,an opportunity to utilize your negotiations skills, communication skills and last but not least will make sure that all of these 240 members will never forget you through out their life. And these reasons were enough for me to decide on whether to contest or not. But who said there are elections scheduled tomorrow?

All of this started with some rumours about Placement committe elections in next two days.Rumour spread by someone who wanted desperately to grab coordinator seat.Tussle started from the time everyone came to know about same. Regional factions have already been formed. At least for this committe we shall not ,for rest all we can give try with regional factions. Thanks to SEC and placement committe for a wonderful one page notice in front of mess.Everyone so worried about this, and everyone shall as this is a crtical committe for every MBA College.Everyone shall act wise and let democratic system decide the most apt candidates. But still People do whatever they can for catching attention of all. There are "Laloos" and "mamtas" in every Politics. And I confirmed that there are laloos and mamtas in every MBA college too.But no one understood this is all about Placement and not Politics. But it seems to me this was placement Preparation for being part for the political party who will be recruiting soon.At least elite-2007 prepared well for theis interview and I am sure most of us will be able to get that Position.Excuse me,I would opt for being a manager than a Politician or a amanger with ability to play Politics would be best in todays corporate world . Politician with ability to manage things - No Way.But yes its Part and Parcel of life coz everyone is here to get Placements. Every manager must know - "4Ps of marketing" .Every MBA college student must know all about - 2Ps of a MBA college - Placements and Politics.

Do U Wanna go to PURI?

Father asked a girl student -What you will do in free time and pat reply came I will go to PURI and the whole class started looking at me with sudden burst of laughter. But excuse me the PURI referred here is a revered place called jagannath puri. The rath yatra(a grand celebration) which DD-1 broadcasts for 9 continuous days and I have always been watching it since 1994 without knowing the facts behind this palce. That girl never came to me but I made sure that I visit "PURI'.My visit to "Puri" last weekend which was due for the past 2 months was nothing more than a memorable fun trip with friends. Trip which made me think twice about religious activities in this country.Myself a hindu in beliefs and values never hesitated to enter church, gurudwara or masjid but yes has always the pride in being hindu.A visit to Puri was an eye opener for me as it put me in dilemma to think twice about the "pride" which I always feel.A gathering of lakhs will be mismanaged to what extent can be guesssed by seeing the inability of management to control regular crowd. No it can not..Where beiong all the money donated is being spent? Can not see a single place under renovation.Cannot see major investmement being done to help the devotees.Who controls the management...Pandas(that is what my guide friend govind told me)"Pandas" followed us from the parking space till the gate of temple. Some abuses from one of the pandas to our guide friend govind was another example of their menial behavior.Pandas felt that govind is breaching the day to day activities of their community.Govind says this is nothing my frnd - The great panda will bless you and will ask for money from you.So better not to get the blessings.Temple or business?Even business is managed with some ethics some moral values. The whole city is run on the business of temple. The whole community forms a clout difficult to fight with.Politicians will leave no stone unturned to make them comfortable and influential as politicians have to garner the large no of votes. This is what represent my religion,my culture...India Shining!!!!!Indians Shining!!Grrrrrrrreat going....Now,I wish this trip could not have happened or would have happend but without the visit to temple. Now I know that I wont go to "PURI" temple atleast....Do you want to go to Puri?

I tried so hard,I tried so far....

Flood lit court fully occupied with audience and not even enough space left to accomodate our cultural representative(manoj motiani). That was the scene at 11:15pm on bball court in inter yr BBAL match on sunday night. In soccer match on saturday cheerleaders were obviously the winners...but this time it was different ballgame altogether.PGP2 grabbed the opportunity to defeat PGP1 in basketball match.Despite all efforts put forth by all the key players of our team(PGP1) we lost...27-23.Shall not blame our team for same, this time we were better than PGP2 unlike in soccer. We didnt loose the match rather I wud say pgp2 won the match..I saw first time ELITE batch united on particular front(Leave apart the when we selected unanimously Baamadev as CR).All the cheerleaders of PGP1 were at their best to make sure that PGP1 players get all the required motivation but once again PGP1 lagged as a team.....Hey Wait..I can give excuse for this too.PGP2 has spent more than one year in XIMB.They have learned strategy making, managerial skills and team work abilities in the past 1 yr and for us its been only one month.Given the time duration as criterion we surely were far better once again and will wait for next battle...... As in this battle..I tried so hard,I tried so far....but in vain.

One more JLT..........

Just Like That, better known as JLT is the second most frequent thing in XIMB(first place is occuped by frequency with which we get bad food in XIMB mess) and tonite it was time for another one. This was to celebrate the success of our three CA frnds(Uncle,Pappu and Daya) who passed the final exams to become compelte CAs.Also it was opportunity for BABA mandali(keep guessing?) to launch the brand elitebaba and then under its aegis VAXIM(Value Addition association of XIM).Everything went fine with wonderful non stop music(courtesy- DJ SOvit) till the dawn.Turnup for JLT was lesser than expected but there was a crowd puller(What else is better than "DAARU").As soon as the SAXIM counter was opened everyone made sure to enjoy the party.Another brand was launched in this JLT "Pammi(Courtesy all my frnds)" and um sure this brand will very soon become icon like the great "Bamadev".Had pammi been part of PGP1 it would have beaten bamadev in TRP ratings. But lets wait n watch. It was already 4:00am by the time I reached my room.Shall I,Shall I not....and decided i shall not sleep as have FA quiz at 9:00am.Uncle was enthusiastic after wonderfult JLT to give me another class on FA and I grabbed the opportunity to understand retrospective effect of accounting.Already 5:00am now and I am still not feeling sleepy.Lets do OB project's reading..Its done, time now 5:45am..not feeling sleepy...Let me write a blog.....and here i started and as soon as i started i felt like um drunk and need a long sleep.......6:00am Gud nite..Plz wake me up by 8:55am...

Wake Up Call!!!

Exams dont send shivers now a days as if that is the case ximbian will be shivering 24*7.As quizzes and exams are scheduled(infact not et al scheduled) are most frequent thing to occur.First ECO test results gave me some hope as I got 7/10 but the reverse happened after discussing 2nd quiz marks which will s be around 4-5/10 ,hopeless but that didnt wake me up.Midterm acted as wakeup call for me.I know relatively I will stand somwhere as an average student in class.Accpeted the fact,as I never was that sort of book worm sticking to books 24 hrs and getting A grades...I need grades enough to take me out of low rankings along with some excellent curricular activities performances(which are must).I will contiinue the life as it is with only eception that I have to wake up now!!!!To be awake in class is only thing required to score good in eco. Jaago Jaago Jaago Subah Ho gayee........

Cheer Leaders at Jhabier!!

"Aisa Kyon hua(Why did it happen) coz .....Galee Galee mein shor hai PGP2 Kamjor hai" All these shouts made during PGP1 vs PGP2 soccer match were enough to create nostalgia with a wish that I could go in past. A wish to go back to my REC days as those were the best days of my life. The match which ended in draw could have given better results and lesser fun in case gods of rain had not blessed with torrential rains during second half.PGP2 was a better team obvious from skills with which they played the game.Superb passing,Shoots and wonderful keepeing of goal. PGP1 lagged team effort coz of some "gaddas" need not be named.Flawaless defense was surely the backbone for PGP1 team which kept the spirits high througout the match.I regret that out of the two playing teams no one Could win .Then who won?Kudos to cheer leaders of PGP1 who were present till the end of match despite heavy rains and that too wothout worrying about drenched clothes(all sorts of). They were the ones who ultimately won the match which ended with slogan "Jeet Gaya,Jeet Gaya,PGP1 Jeet Gaya".Good Luck Cheer Leaders for next contest (BBALL match) of the series.I was the lucky one to be part of cheer leaders group...

Six Point Someone - In The Making

All of us have already beaten thousands of aspirants to get a place into this esteemed institute. So all of us are THE BEST of own field...but who the hell says that THE BEST can not become worse or worst. At least for me mid term exams was time of self realization that there is life beyond studies. Realization that, No matter how much you study in a MBA college it will be difficult to replicate the 10th class performance. Only saving’s grace is the relative grading. Engineers will hit the rock bottom in Financial Accounting and Managerial computing will take sleep out of CA's reach, Graduates will be excelling in HRM and same can take shit out of others. But I shall not worry, I shall not stop from studying and putting all the efforts as I know I can and I will. It was the only first one and ‘N’ more to go…I hope, I wont repeat these lines after every exam by changing variable ‘N’ in decreasing order as we have11 more exams to go in next 15 months. But all nigh outs in midterm exams had scheduled work of watching movies, full night Khattee (gossips in regional language are called so) with friends, enjoying baba’s Prasad, writing blog, composing mails etc. But have we become insomniacs? Nay, surely not, we are making it sure that 60K we paid for each term at least gives us a fine sleep in the Air Conditioned class rooms and for that night outs are must. “Six Point Someone” is in the making. Basic concept has already been thought of on the day we entered XIMB. All I need is characters who can replace Ryan, Alok, Hari and Neha of Five Point Someone or similar characters. I hope, will get them soon…Anyone interested???? Contact me before next Exam starts as I will be working on this assignment during exams (Best time to see the unleashed talent) only with LAKSHYA (TARGET) - Six Point Someone.

Jhabier Speaks!!

"ZINDAGEE MAUT NAA BAN JAAYE SAMBHALO YAARO", this is all what I interpreted from the messages in shout box of ximbians.com(Take a note it is not zimbians.com).Only 4hrs of sleep, may be continuous night outs, daily assignments, quizzes, deadlines, classes at timings when the whole city sleeps, sleep at time when in class only professor is awake. As an engineer, I never agreed that stress of studies can go to such an extreme. I felt all seniors are trying to scare us and end our story. Nay, it was from here that story actually started. Elite-2007, Hannibal, YaDaV rAi ArOrA and Hero2007 were the main characters already chosen for the upcoming extravaganza for next two weeks. All was well staged from “Can you hear him at the back”, “Give your mobile and watches”, Coming Soon - Water, “Introduction of all of us with some eXcellent (rated) remarks”, “Ek Do teen Chaar - Band karo yeh atyachar”. I felt no hesitation in appreciating all my seniors for dropping most of the intolerable processes made by their seniors and had the chance to give my view that some were still being carried forward. Kudos to all seniors for managing all this with ease despite of some difficulties. But who made this easy process a difficult one? Presenting "Elite-2007" - the batch of 2007.All the acts of batch were those required to be a manager. Batch who has all the keenness to revert the XIMB Culture and started with changing culture of city itself (Risk taking capability of good managers).Initiative was taken by first proposal to rename "Xavier Square" as "Bamadev Square(A Brand which became an icon)".Whether it was presentation of XSYS,XFIN,XIMAHR or a CEO talk many of us made sure to complete all the sleep in rooms during this time(Future Planning- Sleepless nights coming soon),Presentations where T-shirt was on priority rather than other queries(Giving apt importance to Packaging is must),Splitting of the XSYS fee in three easy installments was worth appreciation (Financial decision to be taken with care),Cultural programs in the Sambandh (Product for low end as well as high end customers),Birthday celebration where Bhaktee, Baba and Bamadev are discussed more than the Bday boy/girl(Brand Promotion in masses at right place, right time and amongst right people),Posters which have the innovative minds being expressed(Customer is the one who can make or break you).My Jhabier experience speaks that - It requires lots of guts to be Class Representative of any batch of XIMB. Special guts to be CR of "Elite-2007".Being a CR of "Elite-2007" gives you opportunity to act as Free gift under the “Celebrate one get one free" scheme. Class is the best place to sleep until you are not caught red handed. Worst speakers can also become CEO. Any place outside XIMB mess is worth eating. You have to be physically present at every Birthday (Our statistician on hunt for absentees).Roll Call may happen anytime, anywhere. In JLT people behave Just Like Teetotalers – Thanks to SAXIM members for optimum utilization of water. At last there is no dearth of talent in our XIMB community, it will get unleashed with the passage of time. We already are managers (after managing to get into XIMB), I can foresee that two years stint at this place would add lots of value to us and make a “Good Manager” out of us. But we have to wait as “X (Xavier)” effect has just started.

THE X EFFECT - Coming Soon

14th Feb 2003 was a day with no difference to me till 5:00pm.I neither got Nobel Prize after that nor was awarded Bharat Ratna. A congratulatory message from my friend along with an order from HR about on the spur joining of first job "You have to join tomorrow.. Please fly soon". Very soon I was standing at New Delhi airport ready to do number of "FIRST THINGS" in my life. This being my first air trip and as I wasn’t aware of air routes, in no time I lost all the thoughts of pursuing higher studies. Lure of money was not the only reason which took me out of track of my well planned life. "Brand K" which many of us had dreamt of during college days was the most obvious reason. Now I complete 27months of association with brand "K" and looking forward to start another journey very soon. While comparing myself with "I" as of 2003, I see myself as person with more Knowledge, Experience, Maturity, better business acumen or at least some business acumen and lots more to add. From Occupying a seat in aero plane, first official presentation, first salary, first professional recognition, first Goa trip pheww...All of it was mind blowing at "K" Needless to say "K effect" would forever stay with me and will always get reflected in all my doings as this is the place which provided me FIRST opportunity to step into the professional life. So after these 27 months I am again able to gather my thoughts and take firm decision to take another step towards my goal. I’ll be very soon at a place we will call as "JHABIER". No prizes for right guessing the brand name called XIMB. Now as I have already started my association with brand called "X". So soon you will be able to see what I call as "THE X EFFECT".
